The time has come to unite against the oppressive tyranny of Kafka's
minions. They torture unwitting souls (who strive simply to provide
their families with the bare necessities) by restraining them in meetings
for hours on end.
FIGHT BACK!
We have a new weapon. Dilbert may not wage
war, but at least he endures. He'll lose, but we all know it will be
funny. THE comic strip of the 90's has inspired a tool that
will keep us attentive in our meetings. That tool is ...
Buzzword
BINGO! (and the latest
Word list)
The words are in an independent text file for easy downloading
and updating. The word list is a plain text file, so you may need
to right click on the link and choose "Save target as ..." to
download the list.
This is a macro for Word97 and later ONLY. If
you want to use it, download it and
the word list. Then open Word97, go to
Tools>Macro>Visual Basic Editor (or hit
Alt+F11). When it's open, click File>Import File (Ctrl+M) and point to
the location where you just downloaded the macro. Then move the file
Words.txt into your \Microsoft Office\Office directory. I have had no problems
getting this to work on any version of Word later than 97 (including 2003). If
you need help getting this to work, just
email me.
To run, click Tools>Macro>Macros (Alt+F8). Select the Buzzword_bingo
macro and RUN. It's that easy. To include a toolbar button for this, click
Tools>Customize. Change to the Commands tab and scroll down until you see
Macros. Click on it. On the right side you should see the Buzzword_Bingo
macro. Drag it up to your toolbar. Here is an image that you can use for
your new button: or make your own, I don't
care.
I NEED BUZZWORDS
If there's a buzzword you know of that I've forgotten,
e-mail me
and I'll put it on. I am looking for general buzzwords for business and
management, not computers (although you may see a couple of geek terms in
there). Of course you can create your own list and not
share, but it's better if it all goes through one central place (that
way you get other people's cool buzzwords, too). Let's have fun.
THE BUZZ
News About Buzzword Bingo
bwahahaha
OK, so i rewrote the macro. no one helped me because no one is reading this anymore. or you don't care. but i do, so i rewrote it. nyah.
HELP ME, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, HELP ME
i foolishly tried to upload this macro from work and the fascist websense program
obliterated it. Want to hear an
enlightened opinion about this program? Anyhoo. If you've got a copy of the macro, please
send it to me so i can get it back on line to the throngs of BB-starved minions. We all need your help.
Holy Crap - This site is still alive?!
Yeah, sure. It's moved and I didn't tell you. I just got a few more words to
add to the list from a faithful reader, so the list has been updated (as of
06.06.2005). Keep the faith, people!
Media Coverage!
With very little modesty, I am happy to announce that I was interviewed on
October 15, 1998 by Dan Damon of the BBC about Buzzword Bingo. The show
aired on December 1, 1998 and I have the important part of the show
(the part with my interview) available here as
an MP3.
On November 6, 1998 I was interviewed by Rose DeWolf of the Philadelphia
Daily News about the game and my page. This piece should run on
Thursday,
Nov. 12th (tentative).
On August 1, 2002 I was interviewed by Mike Precker, a feature writer at
The Dallas Morning News about the
possible declining interest in this game. Slow news day, Mike?
Buzzword Defined!
buzz-word (n.)
1. a word or phrase, often sounding authoritative or technical, that has
come into vogue in popular culture or a particular profession.

Go Ahead, Use Me
I've assembled a pretty big list of words (see following 'article') and
have found that this list works with the Palm Pilot buzzword bingo. Just
copy my list into a memo on your PC, delete the first 2 lines and sync
up!
Word List Hits 297!
After extensive user and developer input, plus some
good ol' fashioned stealing from other people's buzzword sites, we are at
297 words. Hooray for us. Remember, if you're going to send words, keep
them general. Buzzwords are figures of speech, but classic
figures of speech and cliches don't always fit the bill ;) Naturally, I
get the final say in whether they are included or not.
Awards
Web awards are stupid
Links to other Buzzword Bingo pages
There are more than a few Buzzword Bingo links
out there (see a few below), but some have told me this one's the best (in
fact, I told myself that just last week).
This is by no means complete -- there are more up there every day -- and these
aren't necessarily the best,
they're just the first ones off a hotbot search.
Monkeyboys Buzzword
Bingo for the Palm Pilot
Karl's Bingo OK, I swear, there
used to be like 6 of these, but all those slackers gave up when BB when out of
style. NOT ME. I'm here till George W. Bush (see
miserable failure)
declares this site un-American and not in god's best interests. it could
happen...

it's
